GREAT NEWS! – FWF Co-Founders, YachtWorld Foundation 2011 YachtWorld Heroes

John Weller (5 time cancer survivor and 30+ year Yacht Broker) and Debra Frenkel (Social Worker), Co-Founders of the charity, Freedom Waters Foundation were announced as one of the YachtWorld Foundation’s 2011 YachtWorld Heroes, at the Miami International Boat Show’s opening breakfast, on 2/16/12, lending this local charity- international recognition for service to others.

The Yachtworld Foundation’s (www.yachtworldfoundation.com) mission is to further the knowledge and protection of the world’s oceans.  YachtWorld Heroes are individuals and organizations that have made a significant difference in the promotion and protection of the marine habitat, have made a significant contribution to the education and enjoyment of it by others or a marine industry professional who is changing the world.  Nominated by marine industry colleagues, personal friends and acquaintances whose lives have been impacted by their work.

Giant Steps for Freedom Waters Foundation

FWF is investing in its future by hiring a part time employee and with the purchase of two computers for our home office.  This is major progress for FWF, since for 5 1/2 years, it has been operating with one part time paid employee with one laptap computer.  These changes will lend FWF much more of a foundation and stability for its future and for all we serve!

FWF welcomes Hallie Hau to her position as a team member to FWF! Hallie comes to us from Wisconsin. She has a BA in Education and loves working with children and people in general. She is excited about the possibilities with FWF and is looking forward to assisting with the development of additional, enriching programs for all we serve! Welcome, Hallie from all of us!'

Freedom Waters Foundation had a week complete with a wave of activities and fundraisers!  Donors, Volunteers and Participants “Made it Happen!”  See the Smiles in the pictures below! And, THANK YOU ALL!

Money Matters and More!

FWF gets another affirmation that it is doing what it is supposed to in the world.  Last week, the operating account was down to $600.

Making a plea to the universe asking for alternative direction or funds, the answers came amazingly quickly, confirming, FWF is right where it is suppose to be and is to grow  well into its future!

From $600, last week to:

1)  Raising  just over $4700 last weekend at the Stone Crab Festival – Fantastic and generous Donors, Volunteers  and Co- Sponsors: Pinchers, Big C Events, MarineMax Naples, Cruise Naples, Advantage Services

2) John Weller, FWF Co-Founder raised another $8000 for the Black Tie event aboard the M/Y Mariner III, on Dec. 3

3) Dave Bruening, Naples Volunteer – received a $1000 donation from a gentleman who is honored his wife  through this donation.  She just recently passed away.  A lovely story. He was married for 63 years and months after his first wife died, he went to his 60th High School reunion and reunited with his high school sweetheart.  They married and were happily together for 5 1/2 years until she just passed.  He is 91 and full of love for both of these special women.

4) And, then John Weller was honored by Bank of America (nominated by our good friends at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward) and was awarded $5000 to donate to his charity of choice, and Freedom Waters Foundation was presented the check with John at the banquet!

5) Earlier in the month, the Community Foundation of Collier County – Michael Grech and Pete Villani Memorial Fund donated $500 to FWF.
