Jim Hunt
Jim Hunt is both a waterman and cartographer. Born in the UK, he came to America by ship, as his mother wouldn’t fly, even though his father was in the Air Force. Jim graduated from George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia, with a BS in Biology and minor in Cartography. After graduating, he then spent over 7 years in the US and British Virgin Islands as a full-time captain and professional guide. Working 300+ days a year on the water is when Jim fully became a waterman as scuba, fishing, sailing, and piloting vessels was his lifestyle. Upon returning to the States, he worked for Global Science & Technology as a NASA Research Scientist at Goddard Space Flight Center. Many of the projects at the Applied Informational Science branch are currently in use still such as the sensor system on our drone aircraft and weather products coming from the GOES satellite network. After briefly working for a family business, Jim moved to Naples and worked as a Geographic Information Systems Professional for Wilson Miller Inc. for nine years. His team was integral to many of the largest developments in Collier County, including Ave Maria. Jim has been with MarineMax Naples as both a sales and brokerage consultant for the past 15 years. He is always looking forward to his next ventures in life and welcomes the opportunity to support such a great organization like Freedom Waters Foundation.
