Who is getting on the Water? .

Together, with private and commercial boat owners  – We Serve Many!

Seeking boats in Collier, Broward, Palm Beach  Counties and ATLANTA!

Freedom Waters Foundation continues to serve our mission of enhancing the lives of children and individuals with special needs and veterans by providing therapeutic boat experiences.  Please pass the word and share with  others in your community.

Message from Meredith Gavin, Program Director

We are trying to clear the waiting list from participants who would like to go out on a therapeutic on the water experiences with our organization!
With your help, I believe we can clear the waitlist of 43 families!   If you have any days that you would be able to take people out cruising or fishing, it would be greatly appreciated.  I have around 10 families that would need to be able to go out on a weekend due to the parents are still working. Please let me know if you are free to assist us!

Our mission is to clear the waitlist in the next 2 months! If every person on this email could help 1 day we would have 213 trips go out on behalf of Freedom Waters Foundation.

Let’s work together to clear the list! Thank you to everyone who has been helping all summer reduce the amount of individuals on the waitlist.  Let’s finish this summer season strong!

Atlanta Weller Day Boat Outing – Sept. 24 and Sept. 25

Volunteer  Spotlight – Gary Asztalos

After graduating from Drexel University majoring in Civil Engineering, I joined the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps.  I served 7 years active and 6 years reserve managing projects around the world, earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander. I continued my career, working 27 years for Verizon, responsible for the operations, maintenance, design, and construction at high tech facilities throughout the United States.

Retiring about 2½ years ago I joined several veteran organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Ware, the American Legion, the 40 & 8, and the Military Officers Association of America. As a member of the VFW Honor Guard team, we are kept busy paying tribute to veterans that have departed our ranks as well as other ceremonies.  With the 40 & 8 I manage the Popsicle Fund for the group, supplying treats (ice cream, popsicles, soft drinks, candy, etc.) to the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at NCH North.

The most fun volunteer work that I do is volunteering for Freedom Waters.  In addition to being the lead volunteer (along with my wife Karla Wheeler) on many boat rides, I also assist in the Freedom Waters Office assisting with phone calls, mailings, and other miscellaneous assignments.  Nothing is more uplifting than seeing children with crippling disabilities break into smiles as we cruise the Gulf of Mexico!
