Tom Gordy got involved with Freedom Waters Foundation’s Weller day boating event at Lake Lanier in 2024 and fell in love with this way of serving others.

Tom has spent a lot of time on the water starting with his grandparents building a cabin on Lanier, in 1959. He started taking out their 16 foot Starcraft that had an 18 HP outboard engine when he was 8.

He has continued to enjoy the water. As a 26 year, retired logistics specialist veteran of the Navy, and having a son who is deaf, the Freedom Waters Foundation’s Weller day boat outings checks many of his boxes

Tom grew up in Columbus Georgia and moved to Cumming, Georgia in the early 90s. The last dozen or so years, he has flipped houses in and around the area, and now manages a rental portfolio. He and his wife enjoy travelling. He has visited more countries than states. Tom’s wife, Anna and their two boys, Best and Bask, children are from Thailand and they visit there frequently to visit family and enjoy the amazing food!

Even as a youngster, Tom felt that it was important to give  back to the community that surrounds him .”No one ever got to where they are without the help of others.”
